San Rafael Waterfall is a spectacular waterfall of the river Quijos-Coca, the highest in Ecuador with its 160 meters high (520 feets) and 14 meters wide (45 feets). The second you will visit is called the Magic Rio Malo Waterfall and is 80 meters high. They are located in the transition zone between the Andes Highlands and the Amazon region of the country (part of the “Biosphere Reserve Sumaco” awarded by UNESCO, and as such contains a high diversity of flora and fauna. San Rafael Waterfall, born in the confluence of the rivers Quijos and Salado its water is clean and transparent, is surrounded by a crowded landscape of tropical vegetation, with a temperature of 20°C. It is located on the border of the provinces of Napo and Sucumbios ont he road from Quito to Nueva Loja (Lago Agrio), 25 km from the city of Tena and about 61 km from Baeza. Pick up in Quito (7 AM) and departure to Baeza and the Waterfalls. Breakfast in Baeza.
We will do a 20 minutes walk to the viewpoint of the San Rafael Waterfall, then we drive 10 minutes to see the Rio Malo Magic Waterfall.
A typical food will be served as lunch (trout or tilapia Maito (fish cooked inside a leaf), Creole chicken).
Walk through the river canyon Cacapishco where we can enjoy a refreshing swim in its waters, we could enjoy a variety of orchids, typical birds like tayos, cock of the rock, inca jay, hummingbirds, etc.
